Hon .Obaatanpa Hawa Koomson, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, recently made headlines for building an astroturf field at St Mary's Anglican School in Kasoa Akweley. The field was intended to provide a safe and accessible space for young people to play sports and engage in physical activity. However, the artificial green grass on the astroturf field was quickly damaged, leaving it in a state of disrepair.

Despite the setback, Minister Koomson has taken swift and decisive action to address the issue. She has had the damaged astroturf removed and has pledged to replace it with a new one. This demonstrates her commitment to ensuring that public resources are put to good use and that young people have access to safe and functional recreational spaces.

The construction of the astroturf field was part of a larger effort to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles in Ghana. The field was intended to be a safe space for young people to play sports and engage in physical activity, which can have numerous health benefits, including reducing the risk of obesity, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses.

By taking quick and decisive action to repair the damaged astroturf and replace it with a new one, Minister Koomson has shown her dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles and providing safe and accessible recreational opportunities for young people in Ghana. It is hoped that the new astroturf will be well-maintained and provide a long-lasting space for the community to engage in physical activity and lead healthier lives.
